Jackie Young profile photo

Jackie Young

Family Psychotherapist and Couples Therapist

Qualifications: MSc Family and Systemic Psychotherapy from University of Strathclyde

Jackie works systemically as both a family psychotherapist and a couple’s therapist. Jackie’s practice focuses on relationships, particularly in situations where those relationships are not going as well as they might. Jackie offers support both in person and online.

Family Therapy

For many years, Jackie has worked with separated families, serving as a divorce lawyer and a mediator, and continues to do so. Over time, Jackie realised how challenging it is for families to access support for the emotional impact of separation, especially for children. Having studied psychology before law, Jackie decided to pursue family therapy in order to provide emotional support for families affected by separation. As a family therapist, Jackie specialises in working therapeutically with separated families and those impacted by parental separation.

Jackie also works with families who are not separated, addressing a wide range of family difficulties including challenges with communication, relationships, and behaviour. Jackie offers therapy to individuals as well as family groups.

Jackie’s qualification in family therapy is an MSc in Family and Systemic Psychotherapy from the University of Strathclyde. Jackie is a member of the Association of Family Therapists (AFT) and the UK Council of Psychotherapists (UKCP).

Couples Therapy

Jackie’s work with couples began when Jackie was asked to help couples who wanted to separate amicably and support their children through the process. Over time, Jackie was also approached by couples wishing to stay together and resolve their difficulties. Although family therapy includes working with couples, Jackie decided to undertake further training specifically in couples therapy. There are various theoretical approaches to couples therapy, and Jackie trained for a year in the Developmental Model of Couples Therapy at The Couples Institute in California with Ellyn Bader and Pete Pearson. Jackie’s work with couples is wide-ranging —most couples want their relationship to be different, some find communication has become difficult, sometimes there has been infidelity, and sometimes a couple comes with a specific problem they wish to address.

Drawing on over 30 years of experience in health and social care settings, Lindsey has expertise in areas including palliative care, bereavement (including baby loss), managing life-limiting conditions, cancer, carers’ issues, menopause, and the lifelong impact of childhood trauma.

Clients may have a specific goal to work on, or approach Lindsey with more general concerns. At the outset, Lindsey collaborates with clients to focus on the reasons they seek counselling and to plan a way forward.

Lindsey takes a mind-body approach to counselling, employing a holistic perspective to help clients address symptoms such as an overactive mind or overwhelming feelings of anxiety. Believing that knowledge is power, Lindsey offers psychoeducation not as an expert, but as a means to help clients understand the mind-body connection, gain self-awareness, and develop new coping strategies.

At the core of Lindsey’s work is a genuine, trustworthy, and compassionate relationship. Lindsey aims to provide an inclusive and neurodiverse affirming environment where clients can safely express themselves without judgement. This may include creative approaches such as Therapeutic Photography.

Counselling sessions with Lindsey are available face to face, online, or by telephone, and can be short-term or longer in duration. Walk and Talk (Outdoor Therapy) sessions are offered between April and October. Currently, Lindsey has availability on Thursdays and Fridays.

Laura Ramsay

BACP Registered Counsellor/Psychotherapist

Laura is a BACP registered, experienced Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist.

Laura works with young people and adults aged 16+.

In her sessions, Laura creates a non-judgemental, safe, and empathic space where you can take the time you need. She facilitates the exploration of situations and experiences in your life that don’t feel right.

These may be issues you are already aware of, such as grief, addiction, relationship difficulties, or challenging behaviours. Other issues may be more deep-rooted, naturally unfolding through the therapeutic process as awareness develops.

As an integrated practitioner, Laura draws upon different aspects of her training, selecting approaches best suited to you and your preferences. She recognises that everybody’s journey is unique, and that the most helpful techniques can change at different stages. Her work includes free-flowing and analytical talk therapy, creative techniques, breathwork, and movement-based approaches, both in the therapy room and outdoors through walk-and-talk therapy.

Laura is also a qualified IAART Rewind practitioner. Rewind is a treatment for PTSD that typically requires up to three sessions and uses a non-disclosure method known as “closure without disclosure.” This approach can be particularly effective when talking about a traumatic event may risk re-traumatisation, or when previous attempts to discuss it have not been successful.

In your first session together, you and Laura will explore your current situation and identify an appropriate starting point for the work.

Laura also has availability for online sessions if required.

Profile photo od Dr Aysha

Dr Aysha Latif

BACP Registered Psychodynamic Therapist

Perhaps you are feeling stuck, anxious, lonely, or frightened. Perhaps you feel low and unsure of where to turn. Or maybe you have noticed difficulties in your relationships and are wondering why the same patterns keep repeating. You may feel trapped right now, but a part of you is hoping for change and recognises that trying to manage everything alone is not working. It takes courage to ask for help, and Aysha honours that strength.

Dr Aysha Latif is a qualified Psychodynamic therapist with a special interest and additional training in trauma and somatics. Working psychodynamically means exploring how past experiences may be affecting the present, perhaps through repeated patterns of behaviour or unconscious defence mechanisms. Aysha works collaboratively with you to bring awareness to these patterns and how they developed, with the aim of empowering you to make more conscious choices in your relationships and for yourself.

This work is grounded in talk therapy, while also attending to the whole person, not only thoughts and emotions, but embodiment as well. In sessions, this may involve noticing physical sensations that arise alongside particular emotions or spending time practising specific breathwork techniques.

Our past experiences shape us, but they do not have to define us. Sometimes the coping strategies that helped earlier in life no longer serve us, yet it can feel difficult to find a way forward. Aysha’s practice, Saorsa Counselling, is named after the Gàidhlig word for freedom. This reflects her deep belief that change is possible, freedom can be found, and hope is always present.

By offering a compassionate and non-judgemental space, Aysha aims to facilitate a strong sense of trust so that you feel safe enough to explore the experiences and relationships that have shaped you, how they may be affecting you now, and your hopes for the future.

If you would like to know more, or if you feel ready to take that first step, you are welcome to get in touch by email or text to arrange an initial call.

Aysha offers face-to-face individual therapy. Sessions last 60 minutes and cost £65.

Glen Moore

Counselling and CBT Psychotherapist
BACP Member

If you are reading this, you have probably been struggling with some form of life issue, like anxiety, depression, or addiction. Maybe you are just feeling lost, confused, or isolated, or perhaps you are just despondent with where your life is going, with overwhelming feelings of pointlessness and sadness.

Counselling

Like many others, you may feel uneasy or embarrassed about seeking counselling, especially if you’ve so far managed to cope with, or put up with, difficult life challenges on your own. It can feel very daunting, sharing personal information and thoughts with someone you don’t know. However, speaking with an empathetic, non-judgemental professional often provides clarity and relief, in itself. Glen provides a safe and relaxed environment to confidentially discuss your life challenges with face-to-face sessions at the Bearsden and Milngavie Therapy Centre.

About Glen

Glen brings understanding, maturity, integrity, and a wealth of life experience into his counselling practice, working collaboratively in a non-judgmental, and genuinely empathetic way. All you need to bring is honesty, openness and your own knowledge and experience. Together, you can build a positive and achievable plan towards realistic goals. Although a qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, Glen draws on different psychotherapy and counselling approaches. He does not believe there are ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ answers, as each individual requires a specific, tailored approach that aligns with their own specific requirements.

How Glen works

The first meeting is free of charge; this gives you a chance to tell Glen a bit more about the challenges you are facing and what you hope to gain from counselling. He will discuss the importance of confidentiality, and how sessions could progress. This gives you the opportunity to assess whether this is a process you would like to embark on.

What to do now?

If you feel you may benefit from an informal chat or are curious if counselling is the way forward for you, please just call or drop Glen an email and he would be delighted to explore further with you.

Susan Kernohan

BACP Registered Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapist

Qualifications: Post Graduate Diploma in Human Relations and Counselling from Human Development Scotland (HDS) and Robert Gordon University

Client Group: Adults 18+

We are born in relationship, we are wounded in relationship, and we can be healed in relationship” Harville Hendrix

Susan is a psychodynamic counsellor and psychotherapist and a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Reg No: 409783

There is no one reason for seeking therapy. For some it is a response to experiencing a life changing event. For others it may be that you feel stuck and unable to move forward. You may be experiencing a range of symptoms including panic attacks, anxiety and depression. Whatever the reason Susan offers a safe therapeutic relationship in which to explore and heal.

The Approach

Psychodynamic therapy uses self-reflection and self-examination along with a focus on the relationship between therapist and client as a way of exploring our way of being – our patterns of behaviour, thoughts and feelings.

It is not a symptom focused therapy. Instead, it focuses on how our past shapes our present and, potentially, our future. Exploring these echoes from the past allows insights to emerge helping you to understand why you feel and behave in a certain way and how this might impact your life in the present.

The goal is to develop a deeper understanding, getting to the root of the issue and provide the opportunity to create long-lasting change. It is about moving from the learned coping mechanisms which have allowed you to survive towards healthier choices which will allow you to thrive.

How It Works

The psychodynamic process allows you to talk freely about whatever comes to mind, letting things emerge at your pace and then explore what they mean together. It can be a slow process, and the development is often subtle. As a result, some clients may come for a few weeks, others months and some for years.

Susan is open to working with anyone who is looking to explore how their past may be influencing their life today. She is particularly interested in experience of childhood trauma & loss and addiction, both direct and indirect.

Susan offers a free 15 min introductory call to all potential clients. Please contact her by email or phone to arrange.

Catriona Morrison smiling to the camera

Catriona Morrison

Psychodynamic Counsellor

Catriona Morrison is a psychodynamic counsellor with a background in education spanning over 20 years. She brings a deep understanding of how people learn, adapt, and make sense of their experiences, and how early relationships can quietly shape the way we think, feel, and relate to others. Catriona has witnessed the impactful and lasting changes that can emerge when someone is able to tell their story at their own pace and explore how early relationships and past experiences continue to influence the present.

Life can be busy, and in therapy Catriona invites a slowing down of pace. She offers a steady, reflective space to think together, to notice how you are really feeling, and to say what is on your mind. Through shared curiosity and thoughtful exploration, this process can lead to insight, increased self-awareness, and personal change. You may find yourself wondering why you are the way you are; through collaboration, Catriona works with you to deepen understanding. Change is not immediate, but over time, new options and possibilities can begin to emerge.

There are many reasons you may be seeking support, bereavement, anxiety, low mood, confusion, or life transitions. You may notice repeating patterns in relationships or feel worn down by family dynamics. By exploring unconscious patterns and defences together, awareness can grow. This awareness can create opportunities for change and allow for greater choice and freedom moving forward.

Starting counselling can feel daunting, particularly at first. However, many people find it becomes a valued part of their week as they begin to notice the difference it makes in their lives. Catriona believes that being truly seen and heard by someone who listens authentically can be transformative. Having dedicated time and space to speak freely, without interruption or judgement, and without personal opinions being imposed, can feel both freeing and powerful.

Counselling Qualifications

  • Postgraduate Diploma in Human Relations and Counselling – Human Development Scotland (HDS) and Robert Gordon University
  • COSCA Counselling Skills – Strathclyde University

Catriona is bound by the BACP and COSCA Codes of Professional Ethics and works within these guidelines. Sessions are strictly confidential, and information is not disclosed beyond good practice requirements.

Catriona has extensive experience of the counselling process supporting people through change. Through collaborative work, she supports you to get to know yourself more fully. While the process takes time, it can open up new perspectives and possibilities. If you would like to talk about whether counselling feels right for you, Catriona welcomes you to get in touch by email, text, or phone. If you leave a message, she will respond as soon as possible.
